The full architectural service is otherwise known as RIBA Plan of Work stages 0-7. This is to take a project from initial idea to completion, handover on site and client feedback.
Fees
For the full architectural service the fee is usually calculated as a percentage of the cost of the work under our instruction. The rate depends on the complexity of the work and the size of the project.
Other services are charged at an hourly rate, with an estimate agreed in advance.
We offer a 1 hour initial consultation free of charge, either in the studio or on site. In place of that cost, I encourage people to make a small donation to local charity Evolve Housing + Support, who work with people experiencing homelessness across south London. You can do that here.
Domestic clients
You might have little experience of building work. We arrive at a design through discussing the project with you as it takes shape on screen and on paper. We'll advise what's realistic for your budget. We'll help you visualise how the design will look and feel.
Good design and planning are essential for undertaking any significant building work. Good architecture is possible at all scales of project, and we love the challenges that each project brings.
Listed buildings
We have worked on a number of listed buildings and in conservation areas, involving repairs and sympathetically designed alterations and extensions.
Sustainability
Michael is a member of the AECB and a signatory of Architects Declare.. I advocate retrofit and renovation over demolition, sustainable building services and low embodied carbon materials. Properly detailed, well insulated buildings are more pleasant to live in all year round and less expensive to run.
